Personal Services (Tattoos, Nail Salons, Body Piercing)
There are numerous types of personal services that a Public Health Inspector may become involved in. These can range from high risk services such as Tattooing, Piercing, Pedicures, Manicures and Electrolysis, to low risk activities such as Massage, facials, and Waxing.
Facilities that provide services which break the skin can pose a risk of spreading/causing infections such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C as well as HIV. As such, Public Health Inspectors routinely inspect high-risk Personal Service facilities to help minimize the risks associated with these activities.
Other lower-risk Personal Services such as Massage, Facials, Waxing Hair Salons, Barber Shop and other services which do not intentionally break the skin are considered lower risk and are inspected on a complaint basis only.
Please contact your Public Health Inspector if you would like to submit a complaint about a Personal Service Facility.
