She says, “Nothing feels better than creating a piece of music and singing my heart out. And I hope it helps others feel better too.”
Read Carol’s message and listen to the song she wrote, “We’re Gonna Be Okay,” below.
Here we are settling into the month of January. Christmas lights are being turned off, trees taken down, and cheer dissipating.
January.
The month of large credit card bills.
The month of short days and cold weather.
The month of failed resolutions.
The month where the joy and magic of the holiday season are replaced by back to school, back to work, and back to reality.
January blues are a very real thing at the best of times, never mind adding COVID-19 to the mix. Yes, that thing, the dreaded C word that we all wish never became a part of our vocabulary.
The good news? Dependable summer will come eventually, as it always does. And more importantly, we have vaccines now! One of the most amazing scientific feats I've witnessed in my lifetime. Finally, there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
The bad news? We're still in the tunnel. Unfortunately, we have a ways to go and likely many more dark days ahead.
But we can do this. I know we can. Now is not the time to let down our guard or to give up. Everyone in this province (and beyond) has spent the past year fighting this battle and making sacrifices, and we're all tired. I see you. I feel you.
One quote that has helped me get this far, that I keep going back to, is: "You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have."
So my message to you today is this: You're stronger than you think. You're more resilient than you believe. We will get through this. It will pass. And eventually this will be but a distant memory. Every day, that light at the end of the tunnel is getting a little bit brighter.
We're gonna be okay.
