A Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) helps clients with mobility, personal care, eating and medication monitoring. CCAs work in a variety of settings including long-term care, home care, assisted living and some areas in acute care.

CCAs who work at the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) primarily work in long-term care or acute care with a team made of nurses, physicians and other health-care workers. CCAs work in shifts that usually include evenings and weekends, as access to care for patients may be required 24/7.

How do I become a Continuing Care Assistant?
To work as a CCA, you will require a Continuing Care Assistant certificate. The 32-week program is offered by Saskatchewan Polytechnic, as well as local regional colleges or through part-time distance flexible learning.
