Regina Urgent Care Centre Opportunities
What is an urgent care centre?
The Regina Urgent Care Centre (UCC) will provide care to patients with non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries requiring same-day attention, as well as those needing immediate mental health and addictions support. It includes a dedicated Mental Health and Addictions Services Unit to provide confidential and discreet services, support patient referrals and connect patients to appropriate follow-up services.
This new facility is an important addition to health-care services for residents in Regina and the surrounding area. The UCC is designed to connect patients to community services and support networks, such as home care, crisis intervention and other avenues of primary health care, if needed. All patients who present at the Regina UCC will be triaged and assessed. No one will be turned away. Patients with conditions that require an alternate level of care will be safely transferred or referred to the appropriate care setting or community resource.
Open Now
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is taking a phased approach to operating the UCC, with the facility accepting patients seven-days-a-week from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. beginning July 2. Later this year, the Regina Urgent Care Centre will transition to accepting patients 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. This phased approach enables the UCC to provide patient care, while allowing staff and physicians at the UCC to become accustomed to this new model of team-based care prior to the beginning of 24/7 operations of the facility.
The Regina UCC will be staffed with a multidisciplinary care team, including mental health professionals, to provide patients better access to urgent medical attention for a variety of needs.
