An Environmental Services Worker (ESW) is a health-care professional who helps maintain clean, sanitary and safe environments for clients/patients/residents, staff and visitors. Key duties include cleaning patient rooms, washing linens, wiping counters, windows, vents, equipment and floors.
What is it like working as a Environmental Services Worker at the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA)?
As an ESW with the SHA you will be a part of a interdisciplinary team made up of health-care professionals including other ESWs, physicians and nurses. Work settings may include specialized departments in bigger city centres and hospitals or community clinic and health centres in smaller communities. ESWs work in shifts which may include evenings and weekends but is based on the needs of the health-care facility. Opportunities to move up to supervisor and leadership roles are available for ESWs to progress your career.

What can I earn as a Environmental Services Worker (ESW)?

- Environmental Services Worker - $18.89 to $20.24
ESWs working with the SHA are unionized employees and may be a member of one of the following unions based on work location throughout the province.

How do I become a Environmental Services Worker?
To work as an ESW you will need to have completed a Grade 10 level education. High school students in Grade 11 and 12 are eligible to work as an ESW and is a great way for students to learn more about working in health-care.
