Gillis Lavalley
Gillis is First Nation and Métis heritage and is a member of Cowessess First Nation. Gillis brings 8 years of consulting experience and over 25 years of government experience with an emphasis on strong networking, strategic and communications skills.
Gillis is a current Associate with Upfront Consulting where he has assisted on the Zagime Anishinabek Contribution Gasification Project. Gillis is also an Indigenous Engagement Consultant with SaskBuilds.
Gillis’ career highlights include working for SaskEnergy for 20+ years in marketing and customer solutions where he worked his way to the role of Director of Indigenous and Community Engagement. His work included designing, developing and implementing programs and policies intended to integrate the corporation’s business development and human resource strategies with the Indigenous communities’ development initiatives.
Gillis managed and provided leadership in the Duty to Consult process for new business projects impacting Indigenous communities, seeking to build and enhance relationships, facilitate dialogue and create community and individual business and employment opportunities.
Gillis has a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and values, and continues to work with his community and other First Nations communities to provide services for economic development strategies. He strives to find solutions for Indigenous social initiatives related to employment, education and training, and business development.
Gillis is the current Chair for Reconciliation Regina, Vice-Chair of Little Child Holdings, Vice-Chair of Cowessess Mikiwam Housing, and a Board Member with the Regina Airport Authority.
