David Fan
David Fan is a retired health care executive who spent his entire career of 39 years in the Saskatchewan health care system. He started his professional career as a consultant with the provincial Hospital System Study Group in 1979 which was the forerunner to shared services in health care in Saskatchewan. He had worked as a Hospital Administration Analyst at the Ministry of Health in the Hospital Services Plan; served as the Executive Director of the Victoria Union Hospital in Prince Albert, CEO of the North Central Health District in Melfort, CEO of the Prairie North Health Region in North Battleford.
David is a graduate from the University of Ottawa with a B.Sc and a Master of Health Administration (MHA), and a life-long Certified Health Executive (CHE) with the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL).
David is proud to come from a family of health care providers; his wife Colleen and daughter Jenna are both pharmacists in Saskatchewan; one sister is a nurse in Alberta and another sister is an obstetrician/gynaecologist in Ontario.
David has contributed to the betterment of health care in Saskatchewan by serving in different voluntary roles over the years – Vice-Chair of eHealth Saskatchewan and Chair of its Audit & Finance Committee, inaugural Vice-Chair of the Physician Recruitment Agency of Saskatchewan, Chair of the Council of CEOs of Regional Health Authorities, Cancer Agency, eHealth, 3sHealth for over ten years, member of the Saskatchewan Academic Health Sciences Network.
David also contributed significantly to improving access to renal dialysis in the province - established the very first satellite dialysis unit in Prince Albert outside of Saskatoon and Regina; assisted in establishing the satellite dialysis unit in Tisdale; developed the satellite dialysis unit in North Battleford; collaborated with the Alberta Health Services on the relocation and expansion of the Lloydminster satellite dialysis unit. David was a strong advocate for improved access to mental health and addictions services and spearheaded the replacement and capital campaign for the 100 years old Saskatchewan Hospital in North Battleford. David was also instrumental in establishing the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital Foundation in 1985, and the North Central Health Care Foundation in 2001 in Melfort. David currently is a member of the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation Board.
