New agreement in effect for Research Ethics Boards in Saskatchewan

The Research Ethics Boards of the Saskatchewan Health Authority, the University of Saskatchewan (Biomedical and Behavioral Ethics Boards) and the University of Regina are pleased to announce that the Research Ethics Boards (REB) in the province of Saskatchewan have moved to a policy of full reciprocity. This means that if your application has been approved by the REB of the University of Saskatchewan, University of Regina, or the Saskatchewan Health Authority, that approval will be accepted by both of those other two institutions without the need for additional REB review, provided the protocol is identical in its content and activities.

The SHA Research Department's Research Procedure Handbook applies to all SHA staff, clinicians and team members who are involved with research being conducted within the SHA, as well as any researchers from outside the SHA conducting research within it. The Research Handbook contains SHA’s most up-to-date procedures for conducting research including but not limited to obtaining funding, applying for REB approval, Operational Approval, managing funds, research contracts, and more. SHA staff, clinicians and their affiliated research team members must have a thorough understanding of all sections before conducting research within the SHA.
