Interpretation and Translation Services

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is committed to providing the best health care for its patients and their families. One way we can achieve this goal is to ensure that our clients receive care in their language of choice. Some of the interpretation services that we provide are: 

• Phone interpretation services are available at all of our hospitals and in some locations, employees and volunteers can also provide on-site support. Patients and their families are encouraged to indicate that they prefer to receive service in a language other than English when they register for an appointment. They can also let their health-care provider know that they will like to receive service in a preferred language when they get to the hospital. This will help our staff to ensure they offer the appropriate supports to every client. 
• HealthLine 8-1-1 is a free and confidential 24/7 health advice and support offered in English with translation available in over 100 languages to Saskatchewan residents. To access this line, dial 811. For the city of Lloydminster, it is recommended to dial 1-877-800-0002 to access Healthline 8-1-1. Deaf and hard of hearing clients can access HealthLine 8-1-1 by using the SaskTel Relay Operator Service at 1-800-855-0511.
• 2-1-1 Saskatchewan is a provincial wide resource that provides access to community navigators that listen, respond, and refer Saskatchewan residents to the supports in their communities. To connect today, text or call 2-1-1, or go online and chat at www.sk.211.ca.
• The Government of Saskatchewan website has the ability to translate webpages in real-time. You can select your language of choice at the top of any page.
• Our First Nations and Métis Relations teams also offers interpretation services in a number of Indigenous languages. There are Cultural Support workers and Health Educators in some of our hospitals in Saskatoon and Regina that speak various indigenous languages and are always ready to help our clients. Patients and their families can speak to the registration staff if they would like to receive service in a language of their choice.
• The Saskatchewan Network for Health Services in French also offers a Health Accompagnateur Service, which is an accompaniment service provided to help Francophones requiring interpretation during their appointments at hospitals in Regina and Saskatoon. You may call 1-844-437-0373 if you need this service.

• The Saskatchewan Health Authority's language service provider offers American Sign Language services. Ask your health-care provider for this service if you need it.
