Adult Speech Language Centre (ASLC)
Adult Speech Language Centre (ASLC)
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Adult Speech Language Centre is to provide exceptional, evidence based, patient centered-care, by facilitating our patients’ speech and language recovery in order to thrive in their communities.
About us:
The Adult Speech Language Centre is a small outpatient clinic that provides speech language pathology services to those 18 years of age and older within Saskatchewan. If you have speech and language rehabilitation needs, please connect with the local speech language pathologist in your home community prior to accessing services at the ASLC. If the community speech language pathologist feels more support is required, we will gladly see you at the ASLC.
We provide speech therapy services to those experiencing communication disorders:
a) following stroke and traumatic brain injury related to motor speech (apraxia, dysarthria), language (understanding and use of language, reading and writing), and cognitive skills (memory, reasoning).
b) relating to progressive diseases such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis (education, future planning and support as communication needs change).
c) requiring alternative and augmentative communication systems
d) experiencing voice issues such as hoarseness, paradoxical vocal fold movement, vocal fold paralysis, cough, and voice feminization.
e) outpatient swallow studies– which requires a physician’s referral for this specialized test
For those looking for treatment related to articulation (sound errors), auditory processing disorders, stuttering, accent reduction or learning disabilities, please go to www.csask.ca to find a private speech language pathologist to assist you.
Programs and Services:
At the Adult Speech Language Centre we offer a variety of services including assessment, individual or group treatment, counseling, public education, and other support programs.
