Communicable Disease Control
Communicable diseases include a long list of infections that can be prevented and controlled through:
- Education
- Immunization
- Harm reduction measures
- Investigation and follow-up of communicable diseases that are reportable to Public Health
- Using data on disease transmission to inform Public Health’s response
- Putting protective measures in place such as masking and isolation
- Continuous monitoring (surveillance) of communicable diseases so that measures can be put in place before people get sick or an outbreak happens
