Volunteer Services is excited to support Saskatchewan's Health Human Resource Action Plan by providing Job Shadow opportunities for Grade 11 and 12 High School students, Post-Secondary Students, the community and current SHA employees.
Job Shadows provide individuals an opportunity to observe an SHA employee within a health-care environment as they carry out their daily duties. This experience will help individuals determine if the health-care role fits their personality or their professional goals prior to entering a field of employment or education.
Job Shadows are:
- available in placements of 4 or 8 hour durations;
- a one-time/single location placement opportunity;
- available in a variety of areas/locations, but does not include physician shadowing or surgical/critical care placements including Emergency Departments.
Each application will be assessed from an operational perspective based on ability to support the request in a particular community or department.
Prior to being scheduled Applicants will complete all screening requirements (General Orientation, CRC, Privacy & Confidentiality, IPAC guidelines and other SHA Policies relevant to the shadow).

The Ministry of Education has launched a policy that allows students to receive a Volunteerism 30 credit. To earn a volunteerism credit the student must:
- Be enrolled in a regular 24 credit program;
- Have submitted a personalized learning plan to school administration;
- Completed at least 100 volunteerism hours in grades 10 to 12; and,
