Registration & Information Services
Registration & Information Services
Registration & Information Services is a group of professional clerical staff. Our team also includes Switchboard Operators and, in some locations, Volunteer Services staff. In these roles, we are often the first to greet and register you or your loved one when you enter our facilities to access services. We are committed to excellent customer service.
Registration Services
At Registration, you may expect:
- A Clerk or Office Assistant will enter important information about you into the Admission, Discharge and Transfer (ADT) system. We will only collect the information we need to know. Your registration will take about three minutes.
- We want to make sure that your patient health record has the right information. The information is only shared with the areas that need it.
- All patients will have an armband applied to their wrist at registration. This must be done for proper patient identification and so that we can provide you with safe patient care.
- You will be asked to present your health services card (or other valid government issued identification).
Information Services
The role of Information Services (or Switchboard) is a very important connection between you, your family, and the people caring for you.
- Switchboard Operators manage a large number of calls every day.
- Switchboard is responsible for announcing and managing Emergency Codes, calling and activating medical and other teams needed for the Emergency Codes; as well as directing clients and visitors.
- In some locations, Information Services staff also assist with client registration.
Volunteer Services
Hospitality is central to Volunteer Services. They greet you and your family when you come into our facilities and help to guide you to find your correct destination. Volunteer Services will either provide general information or direct you and your family to the right person who can answer your questions.
