Our Commitment to Safety
Saskatchewan Health Authority Safety Charter
The Saskatchewan Health Authority’s (SHA) greatest priority and commitment is ensuring the safety of its patients, residents, employees and physicians across the province. Patient, employee and physician safety are not mutually exclusive; good working conditions help prevent patients and providers from experiencing physical, emotional or psychological harm.
The core value of safety commits the SHA to physical, psychological, social, cultural, and environmental safety, everyday, for everyone.
The Safety Charter is one of the first steps in the implementation of the SHA Quality and Safety Plan and defines the actions and behaviours required to advance a culture of safety and continuous improvement. It guides the organization in providing patient and family centred care and services, proactively focuses on the elimination of preventable harm and helps to create a climate of psychological and cultural safety.
The Charter sets our course towards a culture of safety and continuous improvement, and supports the SHA’s vision, “Healthy People, Healthy Saskatchewan.” In order to achieve the objectives laid out in the safety charter we all must commit through actions, attitudes and behaviours to ensure that safety is our first and highest priority.
