The Kidney Stone Prevention Clinic
Kidney stones are the most common disorder of the urinary tract. Of those who develop kidney stones, 30 to 40 % will have a second stone within 5 years. Kidney stones happen more in males than females, and are more common in middle aged people. Kidney stones form when certain chemicals in your urine form crystals and stick together.
Diet and proper hydration play a big role in preventing kidney stones. The Kidney Stone Prevention Clinic (KSPC) staff provide diet and medication information to help with prevention. Patients who have had more than one kidney stone will be referred to the clinic by a nephrologist or a urologist.
