Finance and Chief Financial Officer
The Finance portfolio is led by the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Kelly Thompson. Finance works with employees and physicians in creating a sustainable health care system. Finance provides the expertise and services to ensure the SHA is a responsible representative of public funds in several areas including: financial planning, budget and analytics, corporate accounting and financial reporting, enterprise risk management, contracting, procurement and supply management, finance and major capital projects including real estate.
Kelly Thompson – Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer
Kelly Thompson is the Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer for the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA). Kelly and his team steward the financial sustainability of the SHA while embodying its core values and ensuring financial strategies are aligned with SHA's vision
Kelly brings 20 years of financial experience spanning diverse industries, including mining, manufacturing, agriculture, retail operations and energy. His broad leadership experience encompasses major capital projects, capital markets, risk management, business development and finance transformations, underscored by a commitment to operational excellence that extends throughout the organization. Prior to joining SHA Kelly was with Federated Co-operatives Limited for 15 years serving in a variety of leadership roles.
Kelly has a collaborative leadership style and places a strong focus on a highly engaged team-based, values-driven approach to strategic financial management. He is a Chartered accountant, a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Corporate Finance qualification with a Bachelor of Commerce and Master’s Degree in Professional Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan.
Kelly actively participates in the business community. He has served as Vice Chair of the Board of the Co-operative Superannuation Society, was a dedicated Board Member with the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority and was a member of the Accounting Standards Board of Canada, advisory committee for Private Enterprises along with other volunteer work for several other professional and community organizations.
Nadia Maruschak-Clay - Interim Executive Director, Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting
Nadia currently holds the role of Saskatchewan Health Authority’s Director Treasury, where she has provided leadership and support in overseeing treasury, banking and cash flow management functions.
Nadia has an extensive background in finance, serving as the Director of Finance for the former Saskatoon Health Region with 25 years of experience working in health care finance and five years in public practice prior to that. In her time as Director Treasury, she has provided leadership in the establishment of SHA’s Treasury portfolio. Nadia has also successfully led the consolidation of the SHA’s banking and development of cash flow management processes.
Graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Arts & Science Degree and Bachelor of Commerce Degree, Nadia holds a professional designation of Chartered Professional Accountant. She serves as a SHA Employer representative on the SHEPP Employer Partner Committee and Regina Civic Pension Board.
Stacey Bosch - Executive Director, Finance Business Partnerships
Stacey Bosch comes to the role of Executive Director, Finance Business Partnerships from her previous role as Executive Director, Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting where she provided leadership and support in overseeing treasury functions, financial transactions, internal control and audit procedures and board reporting.
Stacey has an extensive background in finance, serving as the Vice President of Corporate Services for the former Heartland Health Region with 23 years of experience working in health care finance and 6 years in the banking industry prior to that. In her time as Executive Director, she provided expertise and leadership in the establishment of SHA’s accounting portfolio. Stacey has also successfully led the SHA’s financial year-end audit and preparation of financial statements process.
She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, has a University Certificate in Accounting and holds the professional designation of Chartered Professional Accountant. She has served as a board member for Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada and as a member of both the Audit and Finance Committees.
Brent Kitchen - Executive Director, Enterprise Risk Management
Brent Kitchen is the Executive Director of Enterprise Risk Management for the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA). Brent has a unique breadth of experience gained through progressively responsible leadership roles over 20 years in the former Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region. Brent served as Executive Director of Patient and Employee Safety, Director of the Quality and Strategy Business Unit for the Surgical Services, Women’s and Children’s, Ambulatory Care and Kidney Program portfolio, Director of Risk Management and Regional Manager of Respiratory Services. Brent’s certificate in Risk Management and Safety through the Canadian Health Care Association, his completion of the Saskatchewan Leadership Program, his Lean Leader certification as well as his certificate in Health Care Administration through the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Commerce are important contributors to his achievements.
Brent’s goal for the Enterprise Risk Management portfolio is to address the risks and seize the opportunities that exist across the SHA. Achieving this goal will ensure we are continuously improving our system for the people we serve.
Shane Merriman - Executive Director, Contracting, Procurement and Supply Management
Shane Merriman is the Executive Director of Contracting, Procurement and Supply Management for the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA). Shane and his team are responsible for providing leadership and oversight for the contract, procurement and supply needs of the SHA.
Shane joined the health sector in 1995. He has served in the health system for more than 20 years in various leadership positions that include Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Corporate Services and most recently as Chief Executive Officer for the former Kelsey Trail Health Region. Shane obtained his Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation in 2004 and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
Shane looks forward to working collaboratively with SHA leaders, stakeholders and his team to execute operational plans that align with the strategies and priorities of the SHA.
Lorelei Stusek - Executive Director, Financial Planning, Budget and Analytics
As Executive Director of Financial Planning, Budget and Analytics, Lorelei Stusek will be responsible for the developing, leading, planning and monitoring of the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s operating and capital budgets. Her role will also include the development and analysis of financial benchmarking, case costing and key financial metrics to be used organization wide.
Lorelei began her career as an accountant and moved into health care in 1994, into the position of Chief Financial Officer with the Assiniboine Valley Health District in Kamsack. In 2002, she became the Vice President of Corporate Services with the former Sunrise Health Region in Yorkton.
Lorelei graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Business Administration and the Executive Leadership Program. Through the years, Lorelei has been actively involved in numerous provincial health system committees. She holds membership with the Canadian College of Healthcare Leaders and is a Certified Lean Leader.
Lorelei is enthusiastic and committed to building and contributing to a sustainable health system that is safe, seamless and meets the needs of the patients and families.
Andrew Haas - Executive Director, Capital Planning and Major Capital Projects
Andrew is the Executive Director of Capital Planning & Major Capital Projects. Andrew and his team support the tri-partite relationship with the Ministries of Health and SaskBuilds & Procurement for major health infrastructure project delivery in Saskatchewan, as well as lead SHA capital planning, space management, real estate, and functional planning.
Andrew has worked throughout western and northern Canada in facility and project leadership roles. Over the past three years, he has worked with the infrastructure side of SHA, focusing efforts on provincial standardization of parking, clinical engineering, building maintenance, capital projects and major capital projects.
Andrew holds a BA from the University of British Columbia, a Master’s in Public Administration from University of Saskatchewan and a Project Management Professional designation.
