Community Paramedicine recognized as a Leading Practice
Congratulations to Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) Emergency Medical Services Community Paramedicine teams for being recognized nationally by Health Standards Organization (HSO) as an exemplary leading practice.
Community Paramedicine (CP) works with local health-care teams to benefit patients and families with care closer to home and to prevent the need for visits to the emergency room. In Saskatchewan, 48 ground ambulance services currently provide community paramedicine programming, supporting over 10,000 CP care events across the province in 2023-24.
“Many years of work have been invested to grow the community paramedicine model of care in Saskatchewan, and it is wonderful to see that that hard work recognized nationally,” said Sherri Julé, Director, Emergency Medical Services North and Provincial Community Paramedicine.
