Construction Impacts Traffic Flow, Parkade Access at RGH
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) would like to advise residents in Regina and area of a construction project impacting traffic in and around Regina General Hospital (RGH), including access to the parkade.
On April 28, the City of Regina started work on a three-phased project on 13th Avenue, which is expected to be completed later this summer. The second phase of construction, scheduled for Monday, May 12, to late June, includes the area between Halifax Street and Toronto Street. During this phase, the 13th Avenue entrance to the RGH parkade will be temporarily closed.
The RGH parkade will be available for use throughout all phases of construction; however, the only way to access the parking garage during the second phase will be via 14th Avenue. Patients and visitors should consider using the 15th Avenue entrance for drop-offs and pick-ups to avoid congestion at the 14th Avenue main entrance, whenever possible.
During construction, emergency medical services (EMS) will continue to have priority access to the hospital via Toronto Street. Patients, visitors, and staff are asked not to use Toronto Street to get to the parkade or the hospital. EMS is not expected to be impacted by construction.
Phase three construction (between Montreal Street and Winnipeg Street) is expected to result in traffic delays and may impact access to the 13th Avenue entrance to the parkade. Drivers who normally use 13th Avenue to travel to RGH should be aware of potential traffic delays and may wish to consider using alternate routes.
