COVID-19 Immunization Alert: AstraZeneca vaccine clinic opens for 64-year-olds on Monday in Regina
Saskatchewan has received 15,500 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to be used with Saskatchewan residents aged 60-64 years of age at the time of immunization and Phase 1 health care workers. Beginning on Monday March 15, 2021, Regina will open a pilot Drive-Thru immunization clinic on the grounds of the Regina Exhibition Association Ltd (REAL) for those residents who are aged 64 ONLY and all Phase 1 health care workers. You cannot pre-book an appointment for the Drive-Thru clinics.
The Drive-Thru site will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. ONLY those aged 64 years of age (with a birthdate between March 16, 1956 and March 15, 1957) on Monday March 15, 2021 will be eligible that day. A health care worker ONLY clinic will be operated on Sunday March 14, 2021, to allow convenient access to health care workers and to test the new process for the public. This drive thru immunization clinic is not open to the public.
The site will begin to open up other ages, in reverse order from oldest to youngest, in the days after. A Public Service Announcement will be issued from the Saskatchewan Health Authority as the next age groups become eligible. At this time, the AstraZeneca vaccine is approved for use in Canada in those aged 18-64 only.
A Public Service Announcement will be issued from the Saskatchewan Health Authority as the next age groups become eligible to attend the drive-thru clinic. To ensure a positive experience for those eligible and minimize waits, please do not attend this clinic, unless you have been advised your age is eligible.
Saskatchewan residents are being vaccinated as fast as supply allows, and is happening in phases so people most at risk get it first. More groups will be eligible as Saskatchewan receives more doses. Once you become eligible, you will always be eligible to receive immunization and book your appointment when there are available clinics or you are ready to receive immunization.
When you are eligible to receive a vaccine, at the REAL location please enter the grounds through the Lewvan and 11th Avenue entrance and follow the GREEN signs for the immunization Drive-Thru clinic. If you are going to the Mass Immunization Clinic follow the BLUE signs and if you’re wanting to go to the COVID-19 testing drive-thru follow the YELLOW signs.
Until most Saskatchewan residents are protected by the vaccine, you must continue following all public health orders and guidelines. COVID-19 is everywhere in Saskatchewan.
