COVID-19 Immunization Alert: Effective immediately: AstraZeneca drive-thru vaccine clinic opens for 63- and 64-year-olds in Regina

​Effective immediately, the Drive Thru for AstraZeneca immunization clinic, located in Regina, is now open for those people who are  63 to 64 years old. Those aged 63 can come now attend the Drive-Thru immunization clinic on the grounds of the Regina Exhibition Association Ltd (REAL). 

The Drive-Thru site will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.  The wait time and current eligibility for the Regina clinic can be found here.

ONLY those aged 63 or 64 years of age (with a birthdate between March 16, 1956 and March 15, 1958) on the date of immunization will be eligible when they arrive. 

Individuals who are now eligible are strongly encouraged to attend. You cannot book these immunizations on-line or by phone. To ensure a positive experience for those eligible and minimize waits, please do not attend this clinic unless you have been advised your age is eligible.

When you are eligible to receive a vaccine, at the REAL location please enter the grounds through the Lewvan and 11th Avenue entrance and follow the GREEN signs for the immunization Drive-Thru clinic. If you are going to the Mass Immunization Clinic follow the BLUE signs and if you’re wanting to go to the COVID-19 testing drive-thru follow the YELLOW signs.

Saskatchewan has received 15,500 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to be used with Saskatchewan residents., The AstraZeneca vaccine is approved for use in Canada in those aged 18-64 only. The Drive-Thru location in Regina opened to this morning to 64 year olds for AstraZeneca immunization. The SHA has decided to further expand eligibility for this clinic today to ensure immunization availability is being maximized.

The site will continue to open up other ages, in reverse order from oldest to youngest. A Public Service Announcement will be issued from the Saskatchewan Health Authority as the next age groups become eligible.

Saskatchewan residents are being vaccinated as fast as supply allows, and is happening in phases so people most at risk get it first. More groups will be eligible as Saskatchewan receives more doses. Once you become eligible, you will always be eligible to receive immunization. 

Until most Saskatchewan residents are protected by the vaccine, you must continue following all public health orders and guidelines. COVID-19 is everywhere in Saskatchewan.
 
It is the responsibility of every person to strictly adhere to all public health orders and measures, including:

• Keep 2 metres away from others when in public and wear a mask.
• Limit gatherings and ensure gathering sizes do not exceed public health orders.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
• Do not touch your eyes, nose, mouth or mask with unwashed hands.
• Stay home if you are unwell; seek health care services when you help.
• Regularly monitor your health for any COVID-19 symptoms and seek testing.
