Newly-hired respiratory therapist in Saskatoon
Emily Gray was born and raised in Saskatoon and has now returned there to work full-time. She initially started her health-care career in December 2020, working for the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) as a porter, and then moved to Calgary to study respiratory therapy at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). In May 2024, she started as a respiratory therapist with the SHA in Saskatoon, currently orientating at Royal University Hospital (RUH) and in the next few months will be splitting her time between RUH and St. Paul’s Hospital.
“I am most looking forward to using my very specific knowledge about the respiratory system that I’ve learned over the last three years and helping others when they need it most,” said Emily. “A quote that has always stuck with me is ‘For health-care providers, coming to the hospital is just another day at work, but for our patients it could be one of the scariest days of their lives’. I think about that every day and plan to be a smiling face that might make someone just a little bit less scared.”
