Stay safe this holiday season
This winter the only thing you should pass along is good cheer! December is a time for celebrations and gathering with loved ones. Getting vaccinated can help reduce the spread of the flu and COVID-19 during this busy season.
It takes about two weeks for the full protective effects of vaccinations to kick in, so it’s best to get them right away.
If your holiday plans include visiting those who are most at risk of contracting the flu and COVID-19, consider getting vaccinated for their protection.
High-risk groups include:
- seniors,
- people with chronic health conditions and/or compromised immune systems,
- children under five, and
- pregnant women.
Occupational/employee health nursing teams are offering influenza and COVID-19 vaccines to SHA employees and physicians. Reach out your local team for details. Vaccines are also available at SHA immunization clinics, participating pharmacies, and some physician and nurse practitioner offices. Learn more at 4flu.ca.
Protect yourself those around you this winter: get your flu and COVID-19 vaccinations.
