Superheroes delight Regina General Hospital patients
It’s not every day our youngest patients get a “drop in” from Deadpool, Spiderman, Batman or Captain America. Recently at Regina General Hospital’s (RGH) pediatric playroom, patients got a super special treat: a visit from superheroes who rappelled down the side of the hospital in front of the windows. The patients and families then got to meet the superheroes face-to-face in their unit, taking pictures with their favourites.
The visit was part of a fundraising event led by the Hospitals of Regina Foundation and brought together a dream team of partners, including superheroes from Regina Police Service SWAT, presenting sponsor Group Medical Services and superhero sponsor TD Bank Group, and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) staff. Together, this amazing event raised over $15,000 to support the priority needs of RGH’s pediatric programs – a truly heroic act.
Hearing the giggles and gasps of little ones, family members, and SHA staff members showcased the many ways SHA staff live our CARES values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Equity and Safety. The daring descent also gave patients of all ages and visitors at RGH the opportunity to inject some joy and wonder an otherwise ordinary Wednesday.
We’re grateful to the event partners and organizers for their efforts to bring this to life, and to all RGH staff to ensure this day was a fun and memorable one! Learn more about this exciting event on the Hospitals of Regina Foundation Facebook page.
