COVID-19 Immunization Alert: Swift Current Drive-Thru and Walk-In Clinics, Moderna Clinic Updates, Eligibility for Booked Appointments Unchanged
Swift Current Drive-Thru and Walk-In Clinics:
Beginning tomorrow on Monday, April 12, 2021, Swift Current will open a drive-thru immunization clinic at 801 Cheadle Street West for those residents who are 55 years of age or older on date of immunization. You cannot pre-book an appointment for the drive-thru clinics.
The drive-thru site will be open 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
On Tuesday, April 13, 2021, the Swift Current walk-in clinic will open at the Old Central Medical Clinic (1061 Central Avenue N).
The walk-in clinic will be open 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
The walk-in clinic will be on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment is necessary, residents can attend at their convenience. ONLY those 55 years of age and older on the date of immunization will receive vaccine.
When attending the walk-in clinic you must follow all site signage and attendant directions. Masks must be worn at all times, even outside, and physical distancing must be practiced.
To ensure a positive experience for those eligible and minimize waits, please do not attend either clinic, unless you have been advised your age is eligible.
Saskatchewan residents are being vaccinated as fast as supply allows, and is happening in phases so people most at risk get it first. More groups will be eligible as Saskatchewan receives more doses. Once you become eligible, you will always be eligible to receive immunization and book your appointment when there are available clinics or you are ready to receive immunization.
Until most Saskatchewan residents are protected by the vaccine, you must continue following all public health orders and guidelines. COVID-19 is everywhere in Saskatchewan.
It is the responsibility of every person to strictly adhere to all public health orders and measures, including:
- Keep 2 metres away from others when in public and wear a mask.
- Limit gatherings and ensure gathering sizes do not exceed public health orders.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Do not touch your eyes, nose, mouth or mask with unwashed hands.
- Stay home if you are unwell; seek health care services when you help.
- Regularly monitor your health for any COVID-19 symptoms and seek testing.

Some appointments already booked in primarily rural and Northern clinics will be impacted, however the majority of patients will receive notification of their rescheduled appointment through text or email.

Vaccine Delivery Changes
With a continued increase of COVID-19 variants of concern, additional steps are being taken throughout the province to offer vaccine to younger age groups to keep immunizations progressing as quickly as possible. In order to accomplish this, vaccine brands may be changed at some clinics in order to remove any age-barriers that prevent immunization of younger residents. As patients arrive for their appointment, nurses are available to answer questions and ensure they are comfortable before proceeding with immunization.
These changes have begun in Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Humbolt and Prince Albert but will extend to additional communities in the coming days, including in North Battleford, and Watrous. These communities will be using AstraZeneca in their booked appointments and also in their drive-thrus.
The type of vaccine available at a clinic can change depending on a number of factors, but all vaccines are safe, effective and approved for use in Canada. All vaccines available in Canada are extremely effective at preventing serious illness and hospitalization.
All drive-thru and walk-in clinics will be on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment is necessary, residents can attend at their convenience.
Additional details for drive-thru and walk-in clinics, including the most up-to-date wait times can be found at: www.saskatchewan.ca/drive-thru-vax. Those attending drive-thru or walk-ins with previously booked appointments are encouraged to cancel, ensuring the next eligible person can receive vaccine.
