Dr. Hassan Masri: My COVID-19 Vaccine Diary
A friend of mine asked me to write about my experience with the vaccine so here we are.
First Pfizer Vaccine Dose: December 22, 2020
Day Zero:
No symptoms at all. No arm soreness or anything else. Just pure joy at having received the vaccine. I celebrated by eating one large pizza (no pineapple).
Day One:
Some soreness in my arm where the injection was, but not enough to do anything about it.
Day Two:
My arm soreness was annoying me a bit, so I took one Tylenol pill and then had zero discomfort for the day.
Day Three:
All symptoms have disappeared and there is no soreness at the injection site. Ate another pizza.
Second Pfizer Vaccine Dose: January 12, 2021
Day Zero:
No symptoms at all. No arm soreness. I felt great, but did not celebrate with pizza.
Day One:
No arm soreness, but a bit fatigued from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. I took one Tylenol, and within an hour I felt much better but still slightly fatigued with some aches. Nothing major.
I watched the Leafs beat the Habs and then enjoyed people posting photos of their families in hockey jerseys on my Facebook wall. I attribute this kind of elated reaction with the immune system being activated again.
Day Two:
I feel great after a good night’s sleep with no fatigue or arm soreness. I may go for a run, watch some Netflix, and then it’s off to work. Can’t beat that for excitement.
My Recommendation
Based on the protection the vaccine affords me and the minimal discomfort I experienced, I would strongly recommend being immunized to my family, my friends and everyone else. Having witnessed people who are breathless or on a breathing machine, I can assure you that this outcome is way more painful and uncomfortable than arm soreness and a short period of discomfort.
Would I do this again? I would LINE UP RIGHT THIS SECOND for the opportunity to be immunized.
