Free psychology services for health-care providers on the COVID-19 frontlines
Health-care providers working on the frontlines of COVID-19 can access free psychology services.
How does it work?
If you are a front-line health-care provider, and would like to contact a psychologist, visit the Saskatchewan list on this Canadian Psychological Association page.
This is a list of psychologists from Saskatchewan who have volunteered to provide psychological services to front-line health-care providers living with the mental health impacts of providing health care during the pandemic. These psychologists have agreed to return calls for requests for service within 24 hours and to provide short-term services at no charge.
If you need help, please do not hesitate to call today.
Responding to the need, supporting the frontline
The Canadian Psychological Association is coordinating this pro-bono service.
“When this pandemic started, we asked ourselves what it is we can do to be a support and a resource across Canada,” says Dr. Karen Cohen, CEO of the Canadian Psychological Association. “One of the initiatives we implemented was organizing psychological services for health-care providers. On top of the stress everyone is feeling because of this pandemic, health-care providers are also facing extraordinary challenges from their work on the COVID-19 frontline.
“Our members understood that health-care providers needed help – within 48 hours of reaching out to our members, we had hundreds answer the call to volunteer their services.”
This service is intended to be a rapid, short-term, focused response to the mental health impacts of working to fight COVID-19.
In addition to this free service, there are many other services you can access for help. Here is a comprehensive list.
Dr. Cohen advises all of those providing health care, especially on the front line, to “be sure you make taking care of yourself a priority. I know that is hard to do, but if you need help please reach out.”
“We take better care of others when we take care of ourselves.”
