North public entrance of Prince Albert Victoria Hospital closes on May 13 due to the construction of a new tower
The north public entrance and parking lot is closing on May 13 due to the construction of the new tower at Prince Albert Victoria Hospital. Everyone is encouraged to follow the signage in and around the hospital grounds during construction.
All patients and visitors must use the south visitor parking lot and enter through the current south-facing main entrance of the hospital. Additional parking on the south side of the hospital has been increased, including additional accessible parking stalls.
Access to the emergency department, all entrances on the south side of the hospital and access to Herb Bassett Home remain unchanged.
Access to Pineview Terrace Long-Term Care Home as well as Brief and Social Detox and the Family Treatment Centre will now access through the south entrance into the hospital campus.
A map has been added below for easy reference.
Patients normally accessing the hospital through the north entrance for appointments should factor in extra time (20-30 minutes), depending on their mobility.
Construction of the new tower will be a multi-year project that will increase beds and services for the residents of Prince Albert and the North.
Overall capacity at Victoria Hospital, between the new tower and existing facility, will increase by 40 per cent, from 173 to 242 beds. The tower will be located on the north side of the hospital with the footprint taking over the majority of the current north parking lot, tying old to new and increasing capacity within the facility.
Further site preparations for the project will begin the week of May 13 with expanded fencing being installed on the north side of the hospital.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) understands the challenges patients, visitors, and staff may face when visiting the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital during construction. We are working diligently to minimize the impact and appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we work to complete this project.
