Robyn Anaquod honoured with YWCA Regina Frontline Worker award
Robyn Anaquod embodies what it means to be a care giver.
Robyn has been a licensed practical nurse since 2013 and has been working on the front lines of the COVID-19 unit at the Regina General Hospital since the start of the pandemic.
A mother of two young children, she stepped away from maternity leave in March 2020, diving head first into the middle of a global pandemic to work directly with sick patients. Each day, despite putting her own wellness at risk, Robyn brings joy, laugher and hope to her coworkers and patients on the front lines of the pandemic.
As the situation worsened and the COVID-19 unit filled, Robyn continued to show up to work with bravery and integrity, working overtime and caring for patients in frightening circumstances. She quickly became an integral part of the COVID-19 unit.
These are the qualities and traits that led to Robyn being recognized through the YWCA’s (Regina) 2021 Women of Distinction Award. Robyn was recently recognized at a virtual awards event as the recipient of the Frontline Worker award.
“For me, this award means that I have been recognized for the work that I do and I feel supported by my community,” noted Anaquod. “Working as a bedside nurse, we support our patients by working together as a team, and we help them heal – mentally, physically, spiritually, whatever they are needing.”
The care that Robyn brings to her work as a nurse is evident in every part of her life, and she extends her natural affinity for compassion, patients and optimism to her kids, husband, friends and family. Robyn’s caregiving spirit and selfless dedication to patients - despite the dangers - makes her a distinguished frontline hero.
“I am passionate about supporting my patients and providing the best care that I can for them. I love working with patients who have lots of different and diverse background. By working together with a team of occupational therapists, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, doctors and the rest of the care team, we help people get better and we help them heal.”
The SHA wishes to congratulate Robyn on her award, along with the many other health care workers who have gone above and beyond through the pandemic. Their commitment and leadership are second to none and in the eyes of many, are truly seen as health care heroes.
