Being fully vaccinated gives Saskatoon children more opportunities to play
While spring is just around the corner, Mackenna and Hunter Montes are hoping for a little more snow so they can enjoy their new toboggan. The 10- and seven-year-old siblings were entered to win the handmade toboggan after getting their COVID-19 vaccinations at the Prairieland Park vaccine clinic in Saskatoon earlier this year.
The one-of-a-kind item was generously made and donated by SHA team member Clem Fortin, who wanted to help give children an incentive to complete their vaccination.
“We want to be safe and do our part,” said Mackenna, when asked why she got vaccinated. Candace, the children’s mother, says Hunter was nervous about his vaccination, but their immunizer made it easy. “It hurt a little bit,” admitted Hunter.
The toboggan draw is just one of the many ways the Saskatoon team has made the Prairieland clinic a welcoming place for children to complete their COVID-19 vaccinations. The clinic also features special stickers and coloring books, a choose-your-own Band-Aid station, a wall of fame, and therapy dogs.
The Prairieland Park clinic remains open for COVID-19 vaccinations for all ages, and does not require an appointment. For details, including hours of operation, and the therapy dog schedule, please visit the SHA Vaccine Clinics webpage.
