Chalk it up to Caring
What do you get when you combine an unblemished driveway, sidewalk chalk, an artistic ability, and a desire to lift spirits?
A message of hope, and sunny days ahead.
Residents of Weyburn were recently treated to many of these chalk art morale boosters, courtesy of the Weyburn Arts Council.
The inspiration for the chalk art in front of the Weyburn Special Care Home came from Weyburn Arts Council Curator Regan Lanning who stated, “I got the idea for the ‘stand here and think of someone you love’ because I was standing there, thinking of my grandma and imagining how hard this past year would have been if she were still with us. My heart went out to all the grandmas and grandpas inside the facility, and we wanted them to know that they are loved and thought of often.”
The Weyburn Special Care Home was but one of many recipients of the Weyburn Arts Council’s sidewalk cheer.
Laning stated, “We chose a number of locations throughout the city where people were likely feeling the effects of the pandemic the hardest: hospitals, care homes, and schools.”
