Merger of the Shellbrook Parkland Medical Center and Shellbrook Primary Health Care Clinic
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) actively seeks opportunities to better organize services and resources to deliver more reliable and consistent team‐based care as close to home as possible.
On June 1st, 2022, the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be merging the Shellbrook Parkland Medical Center and Shellbrook Primary Heath Care Clinic to offer services in a combined clinical space at 206, 2nd Ave West in Shellbrook. The current clinical space has been renovated, and there will be signage directing patients to the registration desk. The clinics will now both operate under the name Shellbrook Primary Health Care Clinic.
“Offering the best care to patients, sooner and as close to home as possible are important goals for our Primary Care team. All patients will now be on the same electronic medical record, and clinical scheduling services are completed for all providers; enabling community resources to be used more effectively. The merger will also have provisions for cross coverage of professionals to mitigate wait times” says SHA’s Northeast’s Primary Health Care Director, Patricia Couture. “The team based care model supports physicians, nurse practitioners, and allied health professionals to work collaboratively, creating efficiencies and improving health outcomes for patients”.
As part of the SHA’s Connected Care strategy, teams across the province are working to advance seamless care as close to home as possible by the right provider at the right time. The creation of this collaborative model in Shellbrook is an example of how the SHA is working to better organize services and resources to deliver more reliable and consistent team‐based care.
There will be no service disruptions for patients and both clinics will remain fully operational until May 31st, 2022. Appointments can be made by calling the clinic at 306-747-2552.
