Patient Status Update: James Smith Cree Nation and Weldon Mass Casualty Incident
As of 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) confirms there are 10 patients who remain in-hospital. Two patients are in critical condition, eight are in stable condition and, since Sunday, seven individuals have been discharged.
Please note that SHA numbers may differ slightly from other agencies as we only track and report on admissions to hospital.
For security and privacy reasons, the SHA will not be disclosing the hospitals where these patients are receiving care or their names. The SHA can confirm no new patients have been admitted to hospital due to this incident beyond the initial 17 individuals admitted presenting with injuries on Sunday.
For the time being, the SHA will continue to provide a daily update and will not be responding to media or public requests for patient information or interviews outside of this. The SHA continues to work with the Prince Albert Grand Council, James Smith Cree Nation, and other community partners in the area to offer support.
Any resident affected by this tragedy can call HealthLine 811 for assistance accessing mental health supports or visit www.saskhealthauthority.ca for resources that may be able to assist them. We thank all our health-care teams and partners who continue to respond to this very difficult situation.
