Pop-up vaccine clinics popping up everywhere
The vaccination program central to our fight against COVID-19 has grown considerably since the first dose was administered on December 15, 2020. Starting with mass clinics in urban centres, the program evolved to add drive-thru and walk-in clinics, community pharmacies and, most recently, pop-up clinics in places like beaches and parks, and at community events.
Pop-up vaccination clinics allow the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), along with community partners, to bring the vaccines directly to the people who still need them. In order to reach those people the SHA has had to think outside the box, and find opportunities to meet the people of Saskatchewan in places one wouldn’t normally associate with a vaccination clinic.
From provincial parks to street fairs, city parks to street corners, shopping centres to Mosaic Stadium, the SHA is looking for every opportunity possible to meet the people of Saskatchewan where they are and help them #stickittoCOVID.
As of August 8, the SHA will no longer offer mass immunization or drive-thru clinics, but the pop-up clinics will continue to do what they do: pop-up in unexpected places throughout the province.
