Regina Food Bank offering more COVID-19 vaccine clinics
The Regina Food Bank was so successful with its COVID-19 vaccine clinic in June it’s offering additional clinics on July 16, 19, 20, 26 and 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The food bank also offered a clinic on July 15.
On June 25, more than 100 individuals were vaccinated, either with their first or second dose, when they came to pick up their food hampers. Given that about 120 cars came to pick up a hamper that day, it’s an excellent turnout, especially considering some people were already fully vaccinated. About half the doses given were first doses.
“By going to the Regina Food Bank, we were able to reach people who hadn’t yet been vaccinated and to ensure that people who had their first dose were able to finish the fight,” said Tracy Sanden, Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) Liaison Officer in Regina.
In addition, every client who visited the Food Bank on June 25 was provided with lunch from the Conexus commercial kitchen, and children left with toys and prizes that included passes to Queen City Exhibition.
“We like to say we are neighbours feeding neighbours,” said David Froh, Vice President, Community, Regina Food Bank. “Our clients – our neighbours – matter to us. We are proud to help Stick It to COVID with the SHA. Today, tomorrow and as long as it is needed, the Regina Food Bank will step up to build community.”
