Rosetown health-care team co-location project planning underway

Planning for the co-location of health-care providers in Rosetown continues with a goal to enhance patient-centered care and improve access by offering a variety of services in one location.

Co-locating all services under one roof is expected to improve access and convenience for patients and will make it easier for health-care professionals to work together, providing opportunities to offer collaborative, team-based, patient-centered care for the community. Project planning is focused on the redesign of the lower level of the Rosetown and District Health Centre to facilitate co-location of physicians and staff from two physician clinics as well as other health-care providers.

A consultant team from Colliers Project Leaders and RBM Architecture are facilitating the project. A local project team consisting of multiple stakeholders, including patient and family advisors, representatives from physician groups, community services staff, and the Town of Rosetown and the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews, was involved in the initial planning.

The project was one of the key actions identified in the health system’s 2019-20 plan to support improved team-based care in the community and is being funded through the Ministry of Health’s Connected Care Strategy.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has recently undertaken repair of the existing overhang at the hospital entrance and has also prioritized the integration of wheelchair accessibility for the front entrance of the Rosetown and District Health Centre. The overhang is expected to be completed by the end of November, weather permitting, while wheelchair accessibility will be addressed as soon as funding is secured.
