SHA attends Lac La Ronge career fair
On May 8 and 9, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) attended the Lac La Ronge career fair, hosted by the Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) Lands and Resources department in collaboration with the LLRIB Education department.
The event attracted over 400 attendees from both La Ronge and surrounding First Nations communities, including Hall Lake and Little Red. Over the two days, the SHA connected with high school students, adult education students and community members. Through these interactions, valuable information about the organization’s programs, services, and opportunities was shared. One additional highlight was the ability to showcase the Métis and First Nations programs and services that are available to Northern community members.
Attendance at these events is crucial in connecting the SHA with youth, to inspire and encourage them as they consider a future career in health care.
With this in mind, our SHA leaders took this opportunity to speak one-on-one with students about their experiences and programs.
“It was amazing interacting with the youth of the Tri-Community,” said Bryce Boynton, Manager, Primary Health Care in Pinehouse and Sandy Bay. “Having the opportunity to explore all these exciting career opportunities with these youth was very refreshing; I had the opportunity to discuss my nursing journey with some youth and it made my day seeing the genuine interest and excitement towards the potential to join my great profession and all the opportunities that become available to you when entering the field.”
