Southwest Integrated Health Facility workers receive 2021 Maple Creek Community Award
It was a touching moment for Melissa Schwab when Blaine Filthaut from the Chamber of Commerce called in May to deliver the news about the Southwest Integrated Healthcare Facility being a recipient of the 2021 Maple Creek Community Awards for their efforts in 2020.
“I was honoured to receive the call and proud to accept the award on behalf of the team,” said Schwab who is the Health Services Manager at the Maple Creek facility.
As one of the three Community Awards winners, the Southwest Integrated Healthcare Facility was humbled to be nominated for such a prestigious award.
As their nomination noted, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 came a lot of changes throughout healthcare, including wearing masks, enhanced personal protective equipment (PPE), screening protocols and reduced visiting times. However, through hard work, diligence and resilience, the whole team committed to serving their community by helping patients and residents with the utmost devotion and professionalism.
Schwab said this award is meaningful as it recognizes the entire team for their efforts and that they are overjoyed to be part of such an amazing team of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), clinic staff, administrators, nutritionists, house keeping, maintenance, continuing care aids (CCAs), activity department, therapists, public health and home care workers, EMS employees, and lab and X-ray technologists.
“Receiving this award really means that our efforts and our commitment to serving our community throughout the pandemic has not gone unnoticed,” Schwab stated. “It means so much to all of us.”
To celebrate the award recipients, business storefronts in Maple Creek will display posters with details about each of the winners.
