Role overview
Partners will join our research team as active team members. They will be involved throughout all stages of this PhD research, and their perspectives and priorities will ensure this work is meeting the needs of people living with dementia and their caregivers. Specific roles will include providing feedback on the research proposal and interview guides for research participants, as well as assisting with participant recruitment strategies, interpreting research findings, and contributing to knowledge translation activities.

We are seeking current or former caregivers who have lived experience with providing care for a loved one with dementia, living in Southeastern Saskatchewan.Time commitment
Meetings and regular email communications throughout the duration of the PhD research (anticipated 2025-2028), averaging 1-2 hours per month.

What can you expect from the research team?
Patient and family partners will be joining a multi-disciplinary team that includes researchers and specialist physicians. This PhD research includes 3 related projects that explore different views on the nutrition and hydration aspects of advance care plans for people with dementia. Participant groups will include family member caregivers for persons with dementia, healthcare professionals, and individuals working at the health system-level. -Partners can expect to be actively involved throughout all stages of the research to ensure their perspectives and ideas contribute to the direction of the research projects from the ground up. -Regular communication will be facilitated with partners. The PhD student will be responsible for arranging meetings and ensuring regular email updates are sent to all team members. She will also be available on an as-needed basis to respond to any questions or concerns from partners. -Partners will receive recognition for their contributions to any research outputs, which may include publications, presentations, and other knowledge translation activities. -Partners will receive compensation for their time.
