- Centrifuge, aliquot and freeze serum within 24 hours of collection.

Other information
- Aids in monitoring of carcinoid tumors
- Proton pump inhibitor can lead to significant elevations of chromogranin A. H2-receptor antagonist can be used at modest doses.
- Samples with cloudiness, hemolysis, hyperlipidemia or containing fibrin may give inaccurate results
- Impaired hepatic or renal function could elevate chromogranin A.
- Various non-neuroendocrine tumors might also associated with elevation of chromogranin A.
