Patient and Family Leadership Council

About us

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) Patient and Family Leadership Council (PFLC) is a selected group of Patient and Family Partners (PFPs) from across Saskatchewan who bring a richness of diversity and varied health experiences. 

These Patient and Family Partners work in partnership with members of SHA Executive Leadership Team, SHA Board of Directors and other SHA support staff to fulfill the purpose and objectives of the PFLC.

Our purpose

The purpose of the Patient and Family Leadership Council (PFLC) is to lead, connect and partner with the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) to embed the principles and practices of Patient and Family Centered Care (PFCC) in order to promote and improve the health of all people living in Saskatchewan.

Our commitment

The Patient and Family Leadership Council will:

  • Lead on behalf of patients, residents, clients, families and caregivers who access services and care in Saskatchewan.
  • Commit to responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action to provide direction for our work (focus on all TRC CTA's).
  • Collaborate with health system partners to embed Patient and Family Centred Care across health-care services.
  • Develop an understanding of traditional values, beliefs, and practices, as well as exploring mechanisms that support respectful partnerships with First Nations and Metis peoples (focus on TRC CTAs 22 and 24).
  • Partner with SHA Leadership in their continuing efforts to improve the safety and quality of care provided in Saskatchewan.
  • Acknowledge care providers and staff as interested partners.
