SHA Learning
Learning is defined as “intentional reflection and deliberate practice of new information and skills that lead to durable habits of thought and behaviour”. This approach to learning involves a few key considerations:
- Knowledge, skill, and behaviour can be developed. We are committed to collective leadership. Each member of the SHA leads from their place within the organization. This leadership is characterized by growth in knowledge, skill, and the leadership behaviours that guide their daily work.
- Growth is intentional. All people grow and develop. Not all people, however, are intentional about their growth. Learning is intentionally focused on developing the habits of skill and behaviour that guide application of the SHA’s philosophy of care and accomplishing its mission.
- Learning takes time. We recognize that durable and lasting learning is difficult. Challenges and setbacks are opportunities for growth and development when engaged deliberately and intentionally. This process is continual, which requires time and opportunity for growth.
