Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) - Clinical Resources
Roll out - November 22, 2023
The Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) Clinical Procedure is rolling out November 22, 2023. In preparation for this roll out, the clinical procedure and associated resources are available below for training purposes before going live in Document Finder.
- Due to practice and product changes, all clinical staff providing care to patients with PICC lines need to complete the education. Ongoing recertification may be different depending on the provider.
- Even though a care provider is eligible to perform a procedure, a clinical assessment is needed to ensure the most appropriate provider is chosen for a specific are environment. Refer to the "clinical team members eligible to perform this function" and "education and training requirement" sections in the clinical procedure for further guidance.
- All patient care providers have a professional obligation to maintain competencies. If a skill is used infrequently or the patient population is complex, it is the responsibility of the clinical area to designate the most appropriate provider and ensure an education and recertification plan is in place.
