Visual Management Boards and Huddles

Visual management is about helping leaders, staff and our customers see our processes and systems in a timely manner.

A Visual Management (VM) Board is a visual communication tool that provides at-a-glance information about daily work and ongoing performance. This tool can help leaders and staff plan, coordinate, and manage daily work as well as monitor ongoing improvement projects and performance measures.

You can make your Visual Management board and huddles work for your team but it should include the categories:

• Team’s purpose and core process 
• Team communication (e.g. memos, wellbeing & resiliency, cheers for peers)
• Daily flow information (e.g. demand & capacity, staffing etc.) 
• Safety (past, present, future, prevention and spread)
• Improvement ideas/projects
• Performance measures

It is key to have team engagement through updating & reviewing the board, and, discussing at regular interactive Huddles.

Road Map Priority

Implementation of Visual Management Boards and Huddles for every SHA team is an SHA Roadmap Priority. It is a part of the QI Deployment Plan. All leaders are required to assess their Visual Management Boards and Huddles and enter it in to the Visual Management Tracking System be the end of Q2 and Q4. The target is to have all Visual Management matured to a level 3 in each category.
