Safety Toolkit for Managers
“Our objective is to advance a culture of safety and continuous improvement that provides patient and family-centred care and services, proactively focuses on the elimination of preventable harm and has a climate of psychological and cultural safety. To achieve this objective and our vision, mission and values, everyone must take responsibility for their role in supporting a safe environment.”
Safety is the proactive elimination of preventable harm and the presence of physical, psychological, social, cultural and environmental well-being.
A Just Culture is essential for safety culture. It is a consistent, fair, and just process for assessing accountability in a safety incident.
It recognizes that people are a part of a complex system and focuses on continuous improvement to address system failings.
All Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) staff, physicians, patients, essential care partners, volunteers, departments and other health partners need to work collaboratively to improve processes and systems and to be an active participant in safety initiatives. This will help us reach our objective of providing exceptional patient and family centered care and achieving our vision, mission, and values.
