Eat Sleep Console - Clinical Resources
Eat Sleep Console (ESC) model of care is an internationally accepted best practice of evidence-informed care for patients/families and newborns with neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) and neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome (NOWS). Implementation of ESC supports protected time for the parent/caregiver and infant as well as empower families to provide the best care for their newborn. Our shared commitment is to empower families, reducing the risk of parent-child separation and improving long term outcomes for the family unit. ESC is an integral step in newborn apprehension prevention for families struggling with opioid exposure.
The new ESC clinical procedure and associated resources are now available below for all Maternal and Children’s areas for pre-implementation training between February to May 2024.
Operational leaders, staff and clinical team members are to review this procedure, resource documents and complete the associated education.
