Patient Safety Talks, Safety Alerts & Safer Practice Bulletins
Communication is one key element to creating a healthy and safe workplace. It can remind us of our responsibilities, provide new information, reinforce safe work practices, and alert us to critical developments.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has developed three methods to communicate patient safety information to our teams:
Safety Talks
Brief discussions on a patient and/or workplace safety topic that helps to reinforce choosing safety first. They provide information on a particular topic, including tips to apply in the workplace and questions to facilitate team discussions.
Safety Alerts
Provide urgent communication across the SHA regarding a high-risk problem, concern, or incident that requires immediate attention and action to eliminate and/or mitigate the risk.
Safer Practice Bulletins
Provide information that does not have the same level of urgency as Safety Alerts. Bulletins are used to address items of medium urgency and may be a reminder or new information regarding a specific hazard. These may be applicable to the entire organization or a specific service line.
