Leadership Essentials
Course description
Leadership Essentials is a unique and thought-provoking program designed specifically for managers. Aligned to the LEADS in a Caring Environment leadership framework and delivered through self-study and interactive online workshops, this program provides participants with foundational knowledge and understanding of what it means to lead effectively in the SHA.
The LEADS framework provides a roadmap of leadership capabilities and behaviours that, when practiced and role modelled by leaders, can be transformational for both individuals and teams.
Leadership Essentials empowers participants to not only explore what they are learning, but to incorporate it into the ways they lead self and others.
The course is organized into cohorts and participants will learn alongside the same group of leaders throughout. A cohort approach provides opportunities for relationship building, networking and contributes to an environment where participants regularly learn from the insights and lived experiences of others in the course.
Each cohort begins with an in-person Core Strengths Workshop. This workshop is foundational to the course and required for all participants. Attendance may require travel and accommodation approvals - participants must discuss this with their Director prior to registration. Visit the Core Strengths program page for more information.
Leadership Essentials is supported by the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) and successful completion of this program is equivalent to the LEADS Leadership Foundations program available through CCHL. Completing Leadership Essentials is the first step towards the Certified Health Executive (CHD) designation through CCHL.
