Energy and Environmental Sustainability (EES)
About Us
The Energy & Environmental Sustainability (EES) team leads the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s efforts to cut costs, boost efficiency, and reduce environmental impacts across facilities province-wide. While energy and utility savings are a key focus, our work also advances broader sustainability priorities such as waste reduction, organics diversion, recycling, sustainable food and procurement, and green space projects. These efforts create healthier, more resilient environments for patients, staff, and communities.
We endeavor to change sustainability from scattered initiatives into a coordinated, system-wide approach. This includes supporting green teams, improving waste streams, piloting rooftop gardens and native landscaping, and promoting environmentally responsible purchasing. Our projects not only lower SHA’s footprint but also strengthen engagement with staff and community partners.
EES also provides strategy, funding discovery, reporting, and compliance oversight. We act as a central hub for sustainability data and decision-making, connecting SHA with governments, NGOs, and academic partners to bring in new resources and opportunities. By embedding sustainability into operations, we deliver programs that achieve measurable results—financially, environmentally, and socially—while building long-term resilience for the health system.
