What to know about:
Preceptor Supports
Preceptor Supports are important for building leadership skills and confidence to contribute to a learning culture within the work environment. Preceptorship encourages implementation of current knowledge, evidence based practice and closes the gap between theory and clinical.
Building preceptor support initiatives is ongoing work of the Learner Placement Unit. The intention is to continually grow resources to complement the existing preceptor information offered by post secondary educational programs.
If you have an idea on supports that would improve your role as a preceptor, let us know by emailing SHA Student Placements shastudentplacements@saskhealthauthority.ca.
How to be entered into the draw:
- Complete a module of the Preceptor Education Program (PEP)
- If you completed the Preceptor Workshop offered by the schools
- If you completed the International Educated Nurse workshop, this certificate can also be entered
- Complete the Preceptor Module survey and upload your certification of completion for the module
Monthly draws will start April 1, 2024 until March 31, 2025. If you completed any modules between March 1-31, 2024 they will still be entered.
Good luck!

FAQ's
- Why does LPU need to know if I accepted a student?
- We need to make sure that a few steps have been taken before the placement can be confirmed which starts with if the SHA has a Clinical Placement Agreement (CPA) with the school requesting the placement. This is important and needs to be done prior to the planning of the placement to ensure that the proper insurance is in place. We then will connect with the manager to make sure they are aware there is a student requesting to come do a placement in that department and make sure this can be accepted. Prior to the student starting their placement we need make sure they are onboarded correctly and have the access needed to complete the placement. We also can help make sure preceptors are aware of supports and workshops they can access before students start their placement.
