Continuous Glucose Monitoring - Roll Out February 22, 2024
- This information provides evidence-based care standards for the use of the Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) devices in Long-Term Care (LTC) and Home Care (HC) settings within the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA).
- CGM devices include the intermittently scanned CGM (isCGM) (previously flash glucose monitoring) and real-time CGM (rtCGM).
- CGM devices use interstitial fluid to measure glucose.
Acute Care resources
ALERT - Continuous Glucose Monitors in Acute Care
The Saskatchewan Health Authority does not support the use of continuous glucose monitoring devices for the management of insulin in acute care. Use in acute care is not approved by Health Canada and does not meet Laboratory accreditation standards for acute care.
